Sask Synod (ELCIC) 2024 Convention

Date: May 30-June 1, 2024

Place: Elim Church, 419 Slimmon Road, Saskatoon

 

Theme: “One Body, One Spirit, One Hope.”

Planning has been happening for the 2024 Synod Convention to be held May 30 – June 1, 2024
at Elim Church, Saskatoon. The theme will be “One Body, One Spirit, One Hope” shared with the LWF General Assembly that was held in Krakow, Poland in 2023.

Highlights will include guest speaker Rev. Dr. Gordon Jensen, workshops, honouring ordination anniversaries and retirements, and the election of a new bishop, with plenty of opportunities for food and fellowship as well as decisions for the business of the church.

   

 Rev. Dr. Gordon Jensen served as the Professor of Reformation History and Theology and Academic Dean at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Saskatoon for over 20 years. He served as a parish pastor for 14 years prior to teaching. He holds a PhD in historical theology from the University of Toronto, along with a MDiv from the Lutheran Theological Seminary and a BA from the University of Alberta. His primary research interests are Luther’s theology of the cross and its implications for parish ministry, Luther’s Catechisms, and the ecumenical implications of the 1536 Wittenberg Concord. He is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada and serves as the official ELCIC observer on the Anglican Church of Canada-United Church of Canada dialogues.
