Report from Youth Delegate to National Convention 2015

National Convention was a few months ago, but I wanted to share with you parts of the report submitted by Kai Graupe from North Battleford. He attended the convention as the Saskatchewan Synod’s youth delegate.  Here are some things he had to say about that experience! “The most memorable experience for me was visiting with the other youth delegates during the evenings. This was the most memorable part for me because I was able to connect with people from all across Canada and create long lasting relationships. The Continue reading →

Fall Rostered Leaders Study Conference

In late September, many rostered leaders gathered on the shores of Manitou Lake for a time of worship, study and rejuvenation.  The weather was perfect for being in such a beautiful setting.  Our time together was marked by song and prayer, moments of quiet reflection and jovial laughter.   Our sessions were led by Dr. Craig Van Gelder.  We focused on who we have been as a Lutheran church in Canada and how we can dream of moving forward to bring the message of Christ Continue reading →

One year ago…One year from now!

I was kindly reminded today by Facebook that one year ago TODAY about 100 Saskatchewan youth and leaders embarked on a wonderful bus trip through Edmonton, Jasper, Mt. Robson, Wells Gray Provincial Park and on to Kamloops, B.C. to attend CLAY 2014.  What a great trip that was!  It was such a joy to travel with a fun and kind group of people, to see the sites along the way, to be in relationship with each other and with God as we journeyed through those Continue reading →

What was hidden is revealed… This is a theme that came out of the Confirmation Retreat held at Metochos Lutheran Bible Camp this past April. Friday night we re-lived the passion story. Reading through the events of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Continue reading →

Seeking 2 youth delegates to National Convention

The Saskatchewan Synod is invited to send 2 youth delegates (age 16 – 23) to the National Convention happening this summer in Edmonton, AB from July 9th til the 12th, 2015.  This is a wonderful way for our youth to be engaged in the broader working of our church, to meet people (including other youth) from all over the country, and to be a part of the decision making process we employ as a church.  One of the most impactful moments of the previous convention Continue reading →

SK-MNO Youth Winter Retreat 2015

Over 70 youth and leaders from the Saskatchewan and Manitoba/Northwestern Ontario synods met at Metochos Camp in February.  The weather was a bit frightful but inside the retreat centre there was a lot of warmth! Emmanuel was our presenter.  He is originally from Madagascar and is currently studying at LTS in Saskatoon to become a pastor.  He got us thinking about who we are – and got us to remember that we are God’s beloved children, no matter how many friends we have on Facebook!
