December 17, 2014 Rev Cindy Halmarson, the former bishop of Saskatchewan Synod, has accepted a position in the Global Mission Unit of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Her new position as Area Program Director for Europe, the Middle East and North Africa (Europe/MENA), based at the Lutheran Center in Chicago, will involve building and maintaining relationships with partner churches in order to strengthen Christ’s mission in the world. The Sask Synod Council met Oct 29-31, 2014 at St. Michael’s in Lumsden for the first time following the May 2014 Synod Convention. On September 8, 1920, during harvest, William Edward Hordern (Bill) was born on a farm at Dundurn to Paul and Ethyl (Davis) Hordern. And 94 years later, as another Saskatchewan harvest comes to an end, he was called to another home. His parents put a strong emphasis on education and he studied at Woodview School, took grades 9 and 10 by correspondence, attended the Dundurn high school, the University of Saskatchewan, and St. Andrew’s College.
