About the Bus Trip
With the desire to continue building community within our synod, the SK Synod Youth Ministry Committee has worked hard to provide a fun travel option to Threads: CLAY2018.
This is an opportunity to get to know your new friends from across this rectangular province and parts of Manitoba that call the SK Synod home! It will be fun-filled, with many opportunities to learn and have fun together.
Our route: We begin with a sleepover in the two largest cities of our two new Synod regions, the beginning points of our journey, Regina and Saskatoon.
In the unfathomably early hours of the morning we will load up on buses and head to Yorkton to meet up with each other. We will then make our convoy journey to Riding Mountain National Park, where you will get to enjoy one of our great National Parks (swimming, hiking, riding, lounging, beach volleyball, and so much more). We will worship and spend the night in Erikson. Day 2/3 will see us in Winnipeg for a full 28 hours, where we will visit the Assiniboine Park and Zoo; the Museum of Human Rights; The Forks; and FUN MOUNTAIN (make sure to bring your swimsuit). From Winnipeg we will make our way to Steinbach (a super cool and really, really, big Lutheran church – seriously, we may play the most epic game of hide and seek!) Day 4 gets us on the road again, on our way to Thunder Bay! You’ll get to see all those trees, and rocks, and trees and rocks, and trees and rocks, and water!!!!
We will arrive at CLAY in time for supper and for all the great CLAY things to happen. Then it will be time to gather with youth from across Canada to experience an awesome time of worship learning and play!
The total cost per person is $385.00. This cost covers t-shirt, bus charters, accommodations at the U of M, all breakfasts, one lunch, and two suppers in Winnipeg. Also included are the entry fees to Riding Mountain National Park, the Zoo, the Museum, and FUN MOUNTAIN.
It will be necessary to pack sleeping gear for each individual. We recommend that each individual have two bags, one for sleeping gear and one for everything else. We have included a how-to guide for how to efficiently pack your bedroll. You won’t need it every day, but you will need it for most.
There will be access each day to a sufficient number of bathrooms to accommodate our group, and showers are guaranteed every other day.
The residence will have common area where youth can hang out during free time. Meals provided throughout the bus trip will be provided with the attempt to accommodate all dietary needs.
Please be advised:
Registration for the Gathering and accommodations at Lakehead are separate from this registration. Information can be found at www.claygathering.ca The gathering begins the evening of Wednesday, August 15th and ends the afternoon of Sunday, August 19th.
