2016 Sightseeing Tour
Travel through the Maritimes To:
CLAY Gathering 2016, Charlottetown, PEI
With the desire to build community between two synods, the MNO Synod and the Saskatchewan Synod have partnered together to provide a fun travel option to CLAY 2016, Not for Sale. This will be a very different experience and we hope that youth have the opportunity to make new connections with those from both Synods.
Our route: Upon your arrival in Halifax, there will be bus transfers available to transport youth groups to our accommodation, Dalhousie University, where we will be staying for 2 nights. Our first day, we will be sightseeing the coast of Nova Scotia; going to Lunenburg and the famous Peggy’s Cove. The following day, will be filled with history as we spend time at the Citadel and go on a Harbor Tour in an old fashioned sail boat, The Tall Silva! There will be time for sightseeing on your own in the Halifax Harbor that afternoon as well. That evening we will continue on to Moncton, New Brunswick. Our next day will start out early as we will be visiting Hopewell Rocks. At this site, you will have the chance to walk on the ocean floor and watch the tide come in! That afternoon we will make our way to Charlottetown via the Confederation Bridge to register your group for CLAY 2016. Then it will be time to gather with youth from across Canada to experience an awesome time of worship learning and play!
The total cost per person is $385.00. This cost covers bus charters and transfers around flight times, accommodations at universities, three breakfasts, one bagged lunch and one fun dinner throughout our travels. As well as entry fees to Hopewell Rocks, The Citadel and a Halifax Harbour Boat Tour.
Since we have made arrangement at university residences in both Halifax and Moncton, it is not necessary to pack sleeping gear as each individual will have a bed and bedding during their stays.
There will be access each day to a sufficient number of bathrooms and showers to accommodate our large group.
The residences will have common areas where youth can hang out during free time. Meals provided throughout the bus trip will be provided by the universities’ cafeterias and should be able to accommodate all dietary needs.
Beyond accommodations, we have also tried to reduce stress by offering bus transfers to and from airports to avoid the need for expensive taxi rides and to hopefully allow for additional travel options due to the small size of Charlottetown’s airport.
Youth Groups should plan their flights arriving into Halifax, NS for August 14, 2016 and departing from Charolettetown, PEI on August 21, 2016. If other arrangements are made, that is at the cost of the individual youth group.
Please be advised: Registration for the Gathering and cost of flights are separate from this registration. Information can be found at www.claygathering.ca. The gathering begins the evening of Wednesday, August 17, 2016 and ends the afternoon of Sunday, August 21, 2016.
Bus trip registration: Completed registration forms and a $50.00 deposit per person (payable to Saskatchewan Synod) are due by March 31, 2016. Please also include a post-dated cheque, dated July 1, 2016 ($335.00 per person), which represents the balance paid in full. (One cheque per con-gregation for the total is preferred but not necessary. Deposits are not refundable after June 30, 2016). Send your completed registrations forms, the waiver form, the deposit and a post dated cheque to:
